GENERAL QUESTIONS

What is Expo East?
Expo East is an east coast trade show based on a strategic alliance formed between the Specialty Advertising Association of Greater New York (SAAGNY) and the Promotional Products Association International (PPAI). The goal of the alliance is to 1) deliver the show experience industry attendees have come to expect at The PPAI Expo in Las Vegas to the east coast, 2) better serve both SAAGNY and other regional associations’ members and 3) engage an underserved market of new and existing PPAI members

What's the purpose of this Expo East alliance?
The alliance serves dual purposes. First, it allows SAAGNY to focus on growing and strengthening its membership initiatives while maintaining its presence in the show landscape without the responsibility of show management and production.  Second, it allows PPAI to better serve the industry and its east coast membership that have been unable to attend The PPAI Expo in Las Vegas. Currently PPAI research indicates a large portion of our PPAI members are not able to attend Expo in Las Vegas each year and PPAI wants to offer an Expo experience to those members. By joining with SAAGNY, PPAI is able to serve these members without introducing another show into the market.

How is this different from the previous relationship between PPAI and Promotions East?
The previous relationship between PPAI and SAAGNY was strictly a management agreement for sales and marketing of Promotions East.  Under the new strategic alliance agreement, PPAI will be responsible for the vision, growth management and production of the event.

What is the role SAAGNY will play in the production of Expo East?
SAAGNY will have an active role in the Expo East Advisory Committee to ensure the strategies and needs of the association and its members are represented in the management of the event.

How will the other District 1 regional associations that are involved in Promotions East be impacted by this alliance?
The relationship that currently exists between SAAGNY /Promotions East and the other District 1 regional associations will remain unchanged.

Will Expo East stay in Atlantic City in June?
Expo East will be held in Atlantic City. The show will be held in May 2014 in fulfillment of the agreement already in place between SAAGNY and the Atlantic City Convention Center.

Why did PPAI decide to do this?
A task force appointed by the PPAI board of directors examined opportunities to better serve PPAI members on the east coast. Recognizing the abundance of shows in the industry, the task force recommended an alliance as opposed to the creation of another show to reach that important industry constituency.

How long will Expo East be—three or four days?
Expo East will have the same day format in 2014. Monday, May 19 will be education day for distributors and the show floor will be open Tuesday, May 20 and Wednesday, May, 21.  Ultimately, Expo East will become an event with significantly more opportunities for all in attendance.

Will there still be a Promotions East?
No. The Promotions East show will no longer be held.
